GRACIELA HORNE NARDI
Graciela Nardi was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. During her years of painting, Graciela became fascinated with the New York-based movement of Abstract Expressionism. Expression through color is how she describes her works. In her work, Graciela used an array of illusionist devices. She expresses all of this through colors and texture. The painting’s entire surface is covered with animated brushstrokes, drips, layers, and different medium. She is one of what may be called “post-abstract” painters.
In her style and technique the fictive space is made up of layer upon layer of net that “mirror” her own life and feelings. Her works explores the relationship between two-dimensional painting and three-dimensional sculpture, that she constructs locating her in the innovative art “Combine”.
MY PAINTING IS A METAPHOR OF MY LIFE.
IF ONE COULD RETRACE THE PATH
FOLLOWED SINCE BIRTH,
A LABYRINTH WOULD EMERGE. THIS LABYRINTH IS THE STAGE
OF MY DAILY EXPERIENCES
WHICH I TRY TO COMPREHEND, ENDLESSLY.
WHAT IS AT THE END OF THIS MAZE IS THE BEAUTY I PURSUE,
AS A GUIDING LIGHT WHICH IS CONSTITUTED BY MY WORK.
THE LAYERS UPON WHICH RESTS
THE STRUCTURE OF MY PAINTING IS THE DIALECTICAL
FORCE THAT PROPELS MY LIFE,
THE LIFE OF ONE WHO STRIVES TO ATTAIN BEAUTY.
MI PINTURA ES UNA METAFORA DE MI VIDA.
SI UNA PUDIESE RETROTRAERSE HACIA AQUEL
PUNTO DE PARTIDA CUANDO TE ASOMAS POR PRIMERA VEZ A LA LUZ,
UN LABERINTO SE LEVANTARIA FRENTE A TI.
ESTE LABERINTO ES LA ESCENA DE MI VIDA COTIDIANA.
LO QUE ANTICIPO AL FINAL DE TODA ESTA ENCRUCIJADA
ES LA BELLEZA QUE PERSIGO.
LA CUAL SE CONVIERTE EN LA LUZ QUE ME GUIA
O SEA EL ARTE MISMO.
LAS CAPAS SOBRE LAS CUALES SE APOYA MI PINTURA
ES LA FUERZA DIALECTICA QUE IMPULSA MI VIDA,
LA VIDA DE ALGUIEN QUE SIEMPRE BUSCA LA BELLEZA.
“art is like good vintage that ripens well in passion”
